Sparralimb Great mix of classic hard Rock and amazing vocals. Super cool guitar work and bass.
annimax_metal

annimax_metal Happy Betty's exquisite vocals. Bumpin' bass lines reminiscent of the bass on the original Jesus Christ Superstar recording.. Crystal clear production where every instrument stands out.. What else can you say about this incredibly fun romp of an album? "I need to own this," that's what! This Austrian band caught my attention all the way from California, USA! Favorite track: This Hate I Feel.
Storm of Crows
Storm of Crows thumbnail
Storm of Crows I'm always blown away by the power and feeling in Betty's voice. She's an answer to "Who could you listen to singing the phone book?". She's not just one of the best female vocalists on the indie scene, she's one of the best female singers I can name, ever.

Then there's Patrick. Guitar isn't just a skill, it's an art. You have to know how to use it. Don't just always play fast because it sounds flashy. Play with feeling. He can do both and he knows exactly when and how to play to perfection. Favorite track: B.P.M..

B.P.M. 03:34
I wanna rock `n` roll And wish to travel the world But you will join my ride I need to have you all by my side Don’t forget to smile The most important thing in life ‘Cause music will last forever And will keep us together Till the end of our time Don’t tell me to stop right now I’m not ready to go yet What’s wrong if I want to play with my band and have no regrets? Every day I die a little anyhow Yes, I know that I’m too old To rock and roll around the world I don’t care, ‘cause I feel alright Just one more song and then good night Stand by me, enjoy the vibe I’ll be your joy, you’ll be my pride Music is my inspiration And the best compensation For the pains in my life Don’t tell me to stop right now I’m not ready to go yet What’s wrong if I want to play with my band and have no regrets? That’s all that matters anyhow

From sea to mountains there is everything we need To live in peace and harmony We are so unique in the universe, not far Is our star That we call sun In this galaxy we’re God’s favourite son How many creatures are connected with the One And clear waterfalls Refreshing balm Nobody has the right to take another life Aren’t you sad, a bit concerned? I wish you could see how amazing this world is No, I won’t keep you from your everyday life Here planet Earth you can pass by Don’t care of me and simply let me die Save the planet Save the planet now!

You, I know it was you Not me, I’m sure it’s not me I don’t understand this hate I feel They’re bringing me down The whole world, the people around Doctors say it’s called paranoia Fear and conspiracy - is everyone out to get me? Million voices in my head saying ‘You are sane, you fake your insanity’ So what is this hate I feel? Drugs don’t work anymore Who knows from what they’re made My delusional beliefs grow and grow Stronger, darker, deeper Why should they think this is paranoia? Fear and conspiracy - is everyone out to get me? Million voices in my head saying ‘You’re sane, you fake your insanity’ So what is this hate I feel? So what is this hate I feel? So what is this hate I feel!

Mister 02:43
I don't want your millions, Mister I don't want your diamond ring All I want is the right to play with the band, Mister Give me back my music clubs again I don't want your millions, Mister All I want is the right to play Now, I don't want your Rolls-Royce, Mister I don't want your pleasure yacht No-no-no all I want's just a stage for the band Give to me my old clubs back I don't want your millions, Mister All I want is the right to play We work to build this country, Mister While you enjoy a life of ease You've stolen all that we built, Mister Now our bands starve and freeze Think me dumb if you wish, Mister Call me green, or blue, or red But this one thing I sure know, Mister The hungry artists must be fed Take the two old parties, Mister No difference in them I can see But with a Music Party We could set the people free I don't want your millions, Mister I don't want your diamond ring All I want is the right to play with the band Give me back my music clubs again Mister!

Keep Going 03:56
When you’re emotionally broken Sadness and loneliness are your only friends When your life is like treading a barren desert Stick to your path And follow the sun You’ll always attract What you believe you are worth If you want to fly Then drop the weights that hold you down, down, down, down Use the pain as fuel And keep going When your heart is breaking into pieces And the darkness rains upon you Belief in yourself will banish the shadows Just keep moving All things come to pass You’ll always attract What you believe you are worth If you want to fly Then drop the weights that hold you down, down, down Use the pain as fuel And now keep going!

Sisterhood 03:07
Hey! You are a great woman A fierce, brave, independent woman Don't be afraid to set borderlines They don't like it? Who cares, nevermind! While the weak, they fade You never sag, never lower your grade Refuse to depend on anyone! Join me and sing it loud I'm woman and I'm proud It's time to get free… You try every day to be strong But when you feel like you just don't belong When you know you've done nothing wrong And you're fed up of biting your tongue Say no to power-plays And let music bring light to your days If you don’t like their song, you can write your own Join me and sing it loud I'm woman and I'm proud It's time to get free.. Women, stick together, women Stronger, you’re together stronger Women, stick together, women Stronger, you’re together stronger Join me and sing it loud I'm woman and I'm proud It's time to get free…

There is something about Death Like love itself! If with someone with whom you’ve known passion And the glow of youthful love You also after years of life together Feel the sinking of the fire And thus fade away together Gradually, faintly, delicately As it were in each other’s arms Passing from the familiar room That is a power of unison Between souls Like love itself!

about

The 7 songs here included confirm the psychedelic and heavy blues style that is typical of Portobello Express. However, they also offer harder rock and heavy sounds that always remain melodic thanks to the vocals of front woman Happy Betty. Both in its tension and its composition, the last track of the album is a stylistic novelty for the band. However, the emotional power and passion of Betty's vocals and Patrick Slowhand's guitars is common to all the songs, be they heavy, hard or soft.
Recorded over the course of a year, B.P.M. finds Betty struggling with her own health issues. At times it's fearlessly autobiographical, at others it's built around similar stories told by friends.
Producer Andy Abraham (Hallucination Company), in whose studio the album was recorded, played an important role: not only did he appear as a guest musician on three songs, he also contributed significantly to the concept of the album over a period of months.
Each song on this album has its own story and character, and pays tribute to the greats who inspired the tracks: Deep Purple, Jefferson Airplane, Black Sabbath and Heart. "Any apparent inaccuracy is calculated. As Betty, who wrote all the songs, explains: "Beauty is not perfection, it is emotion".
B.P.M. is an album about anger, our planet, death, strength, perseverance and loving music.
